Sangiro has been operating as a poultry abattoir since the 1970’s, however, it was the takeover by Mr Andrew Wilkinson in March 2012, which really drove its success and since then has continued to provide a quality product, which is non-injected, proudly South African, predominantly fresh chicken. As our slogan, “Know your
know your suggests, we firmly believe our high quality product starts at the farming level though a highly functional relationship with Sangiro’s sister company, Avon Chicken Farming, a company which Mr Wilkinson, previously a chicken farmer himself, began. Currently, there are 23 farms supplying the Sangiro Poultry Processing Plant, 5 of which are owned by Mr Wilkinson himself.
Sangiro currently processes approximately, 700 000 live birds per week and is one of the largest producers of fresh chicken, in South Africa.
